What is a ITR-2?
What is the due date for filing ITR-1 Form ?The ITR-2 is filed by the individuals or HUFs not having income from profit or gains of business or profession and to whom ITR-1 is not applicable. It includes income from capital gains, foreign income or any agricultural income more than Rs 5,000.
ITR-2 forms are used by individuals or Hindu Undivided Families whose total income for the assessment year includes:
- Income from Salary/Pension
- Income from House Property
- Income from Capital Gains
- Income from Other Sources (including Winnings from Lottery and Income from Race Horses)
- Foreign Assets
Who can use ITR-2 form?
ITR-2 forms are used by individuals or Hindu Undivided Families whose total income for the assessment year includes:
- Income from Salary/Pension
- Income from House Property
- Income from Capital Gains
- Income from Other Sources (including Winnings from Lottery and Income from Race Horses)
- Foreign Assets
- Income exceeding Rs. 50 Lakhs
- Having foreign assets / income
- Having agricultural income which is more than Rs. 5,000
- Having taxable capital gains
- Having income from business or profession as a partner
- Having more than one house property
Who should not file ITR-2 form?
- Any individual or Hindu Undivided Family with income fully or partially earned from a business or profession.
- Individuals who are eligible to fill out the ITR-1 Form.
- Individuals who are partners in a Partnership Firm.
When should ITR-2 be filed?
ITR-2 form is to be used when the assessee has income that falls into the below category:
- Accrued income through the sale of assets or property (Capital Gains)
- Income as a partner in any firm (not proprietorship)
- Income from more than one housing property
- Income from countries outside of India
- Income from any lotteries or horse racing
- Income from Salary/Pension, Housing Property, Other sources that exceeds Rs. 50 Lakhs
- Income from agriculture above Rs 5,000
What is the due date for filing ITR-2 form?
ITR-2 form must be filed by individuals and HUFs on or before 31st July of every year.
